Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Clyde Jackman has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

(1) O'Regan�s, Grand Codroy River Farm Access Road (Reg. 1285)
Proponent: Stephen Balsom

The proponent proposes to construct a gravel access road, approximately 1.5 kilometres in length, in order to provide seasonal access to private land for a Christmas tree farming operation. The road is located between the main road through the community of O'Regan�s and the Grand Codroy River, in Western Newfoundland. The road is planned to be constructed to a forestry road class "C" standards and is scheduled to be built in early October 2006. The undertaking was registered on August 21, 2006; public comments are due by September 29, 2006; and, the minister's decision is due by October 5, 2006.

(2) CBPP Dist. 16 (Davis Pond) Access Roads Amendment (Reg. 1286)
Proponent: Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited

The proponent proposes to construct seven kilometres of primary forest access roads in Forest Management District 16 near Little Davis Pond and Big Davis Pond. District 16 is located in the southeastern portion of the Great Northern Peninsula. Construction of the roads is planned for the fall 2006. The undertaking was registered on August 25, 2006; public comments are due by September 29, 2006; and, the minister's decision is due by October 9, 2006.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
