Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Clyde Jackman has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

(1) St. Lunaire-Griquet Snowmobile Trail                                              (Reg. 1283)
Proponent: Town of St. Lunaire-Griquet

The proponent proposes to construct a six kilometre long snowmobile trail from Joe's Pond in St. Lunaire to Gunner's Cove Northwest Bay on the Great Northern Peninsula. The trail will join an existing snowmobile trail at Northwest Brook. The trail will be 3.65 metres wide with four bridges to be constructed for stream crossings. The undertaking was registered on August 15, 2006; public comments are due by September 25, 2006; and, the minister's decision is due by September 29, 2006.

(2) Milord Arm Cottage Access Road                                         (Reg. 1284)
Proponent: Mr. Shawn Warren

The proponent proposes to construct a 1.4 kilometre cottage access road, off Route 341, in the Milord Arm Region, Bay of Exploits. The road is located 3.5 kilometres east of Brown�s Arm. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the fall 2006. The undertaking was registered on August 17, 2006; public comments are due by September 25, 2006: and, the minister's decision is due by October 1, 2006.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

Terra Nova River Fishway Access Road                                        (Reg. 1255)
Proponent: Fisheries and Oceans Canada

The proponent has withdrawn the above project from environmental assessment review.
