Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Clyde Jackman has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

(1) Abitibi-Consolidated Dist. 12 5-Year Plan Amendment (Denny�s Pond)

Proponent: Abitibi-Consolidated Company of Canada (Reg. 1204)

The minister has released the above project from further environmental assessment review, subject to the following conditions:

Abitibi-Consolidated must apply the commitments and measures described in the original Five Year Operating Plan for (January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2007) (EA Registration 1032) to this Amendment.

Abitibi-Consolidated is required to consult with Mr. Dave Evans of Victoria Outfitters Ltd., the Wildlife Division (Department of Environment and Conservation) and the District Manager (Forest Resources Branch, Department of Natural Resources) to address issues with the proposed harvesting operations in the vicinity of the outfitter�s operating area, for departmental approval prior to the commencement of the undertaking in the outfitter�s operating area.

Abitibi-Consolidated is required to consult with the Wildlife Division (Department of Environment and Conservation) to address issues for caribou habitat protection in the area of the undertaking, for departmental approval prior to the commencement of the undertaking.

(2) La Scie Mink Farm (Reg. 1262)
