Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Clyde Jackman has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Little Soldiers Pond (Incinerator Road Extension) Gravel Quarry                      (Reg. 1253)
Proponent: Capital Ready Mix Ltd.

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a quarry operation for mining and processing sand and gravel materials for use in their concrete batch plant operations. The proposed quarry will develop approximately 90 hectares of land located between Black Mountain Pond and Little Soldiers Pond, west of Incinerator Road, off the Foxtrap Access Road. The quarry will require an extension to Incinerator Road of approximately 800 metres. The quarry is proposed to be developed in 3.5 hectare sections over a projected 25 years with rehabilitation following as quarrying continues. The undertaking was registered on April 25; public comments are due by June 2; and the minister's decision is due by June 9.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
