Minister announces funding for Grand Concourse Authority

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced funding valued at $150,000, to contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance projects of the Grand Concourse Authority.

The Department of Transportation and Works has been a member of the Grand Concourse Authority for a number of years, said Minister Rideout.  This organization depends on its members for funding to uphold maintenance of their projects, including the Long Pond Walk and the walk around Kents Pond.

These projects contribute to the beauty and overall character of the City of St. Johns, and I am very pleased to allocate $150,000 to contribute to the continuing efforts of the Grand Concourse Authority.

Minister Rideout said that this donation is a general operating grant to the Grand Concourse Authority.

This funding will not go toward one particular venture of the organization, but is to be used at the discretion of the Grand Concourse Authority to offset the costs that are associated with developing and maintaining new and existing projects, said the minister.

St. Johns Centre MHA Shawn Skinner presented a cheque valued at $150,000, on behalf of Minister Rideout and the Department of Transportation and Works, to the Grand Concourses Management Team Leader Eddison Bown.
