Road work announced for Placentia & St. Mary�sTom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced road and bridge projects for the Placentia & St. Mary�s District under the 2005-06 Provincial Roads Improvement Program. Minister Rideout said, �Our government is committed to the revitalization of rural areas of our province. We believe a solid transportation infrastructure will result in benefits for road users and the industries that depend on them. Our government is moving forward with our plans to develop a better quality roads infrastructure. Such is the scope of the planned road work for the Placentia & St. Mary�s District.� Planned work for the district includes:
�The Provincial Roads Improvement Program, initially valued at $33.7 million, has twice been increased over the recent months and now totals $48.7 million. This includes $3.7 million in carryovers from last year,� said Minister Rideout. �Our government recognizes the need for a reliable roads infrastructure for the people, economy and communities of the province.
