The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

NOTE TO EDITORS: Provincial basketball championships, April 22-24

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador wishes to advise that the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will host 10 minor provincial Pepsi championships in the province from April 22�24.

West Coast Under 15
Nine teams will compete in the West Coast Under 15 A and B Girls Championship at St. Paul�s Intermediate and Gander Collegiate in Gander. Four teams will compete in the West Coast Under 15 A Boys Championships taking place at St. Paul�s Intermediate and Gander Collegiate in Gander, while seven teams will participate in the West Coast Midget Boys B tournament at Lakewood in Glenwood.

East Coast Under 15
Eight teams will compete in the East Coast Under 15 A Boys event at Fatima in St. Bride�s and the Under 15 B Boys at St. Catherine�s in Mount Carmel. The Under 15 C Boys will take place at St. Francis in Harbour Grace with seven teams competing. The East Coast Under 15 A Girls event will be held at Baltimore in Ferryland with eight teams vying for the championship. Eight teams will participate in the East Coast Under 15 Girls B event at St. Francis in Harbour Grace, and the C event at Clarenville Middle School in Clarenville. Eight teams will compete in each of the events.

All tournaments start on Friday and will conclude Sunday afternoon with the championship games.
