Basketball Provincial Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association concluded the final games of the Molson Senior Provincial Championships Sunday in the St. John�s/Metro region. Over 50 games were played this past weekend resulting in champions in Division�s 2, 3 and 4 men�s and ladies division 2. Final scores, all-star teams and MVPs are noted below.

Division II: Black Horse defeated Outlaws 84-83 in the Division II Men�s final at Bishop�s. MVP, Jason Reynolds led Black Horse with 25 points while Joe Green chipped in 17 for Outlaws. The all-star team consisted of Charles Luther and Robin Pennell of Outlaws, Mike Pittman of Sundance, Terry Eddy of Budweiser and Grant Redden of Black Horse.

Division III Men: MVP, Graham Lehman scored 16 points to lead Steers/Sleeves to a 72-66 victory over Breton Solutions to capture the Division III men�s title at Marine Institute. The all-star team consisted of Jon Rusted and Jeremy McCarthy of Marine Institute, Greg Parrott and John Green of Breton Solutions and Graham Lehman of Steers/Sleeves.

Division IV Men: Ravens defeated Avalon Stematic 62-55 to win the Division IV men�s title at Mount Pearl Senior High. MVP, Don Hurley scored 24 points for Ravens while Jason Wickham scored 14 for Avalon. The all-star team consisted of Paddy Bonnell of Pikes Food Town, Shawn Searle of Avalon Stematic, Scott Cleary of Harbour Grace, Frank Finn of Bombers and Dave Chafe of Metro.

Division II Ladies: Humpty Dumpty defeated Magic Wok 52-44 in the Ladies Division II championship game held at Mount Pearl Senior High. Debbie Wheaton scored 14 points for Humpty Dumpty while Lisa Daley chipped in with 18 for Magic Wok. The all-star team consisted of Lisa Daley of Magic Wok, Lindy Stanley of Central Dairies, Marsha Waddleton of Corner Stone, Line Daley of New Moon and Debbie Wheaton of Humpty Dumpty. Melanie Ball of Humpty Dumpty was named MVP.
