$80,500 in funding announced through Community Enhancement Program

Jack Byrne, Minister of Municipal Affairs, today announced funding valued at $80,500 for proposals submitted under the Community Enhancement Program.

"It is clear from this latest funding that the Community Enhancement Program is having an impact throughout Newfoundland and Labrador," stated Minister Byrne. "Since the program�s inception last summer, the funding provided has been invested in productive projects. While the infrastructure of our communities continues to be developed and improved upon, the funding announced here today will further enable workers to obtain the short-term employment they require."

On the west coast, proposals approved total $25,000 and include:

  • $25,000 to the Town of St. George�s for trimming and grading of rail-bed line.
  • On the south coast, proposals approved total $47,000 and include:

  • $6,000 to the Town of Ramea to repair swimming pool and to construct bathroom facilities at town rink;
  • $6,000 to the Town of St. Jacques-Coombs Cove to construct trail;
  • $13,500 to the Town of Hermitage-Sandyville for renovations to town buildings;
  • $6,500 to the Town of Morrisville for infrastructure improvements;
  • $5,000 to the Local Service District of Grey River for community projects;
  • $10,000 to the Town of Gaultois to construct hiking trail.
  • In Labrador, proposals approved total $8,500 and include:

  • $6,700 to the Town of Charlottetown to construct walking trail;
  • $1,800 to the Local Service District of Pinsent�s Arm for community clean-up and painting of church.
