$23,752 in funding support announced under Crab Workers Support Program

The Department of Municipal Affairs today provided an update on projects approved under the provinces Crab Workers Support Program, and announced $23,752 in funding approvals.

"This government committed to ensure that plant workers and other processing employees gained employment hours necessary to cover shortfalls experienced due to the late start of the crab fishery," stated Minister Byrne "And while that much-needed income support is provided, participants are putting their labours towards worthwhile projects. The upgrades to infrastructure and economic development initiatives will continue to reap benefits long after the Crab Workers Support Program has concluded."

The program has approved $19,529 to provide increased funding support for previously approved projects located in Black Tickle, Cottlesville, Englee, St. Lawrence and Summerford.

New funding has been granted for the following:

  • $4,223 to the Town of Cobbs Arm for repairs and maintenance to town buildings and community trail.
