Jack Byrne, Minister of Municipal Affairs, today announced approvals valued at $589,400 for proposals submitted under the Community Enhancement Program.

This funding will go a long way in supporting projects and residents requiring work throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We have recently extended the budget for the program to $6 million to provide additional funding and are doing our best to address the need for employment hours, stated Minister Byrne. While we respect that the need is significant, we cannot support all projects but continue to work within the allotted budget to fairly distribute funding throughout the province. We will continue to work with MHAs to approve and prioritize projects in the areas which they represent, and are committed to ensuring that the short-term employment opportunities have long-term benefit to residents and communities.
