NLIS 3 October 20, 2005 (Municipal and Provincial Affairs) Community Enhancement Program to provide $100,100 to Harbour Main-Whitbourne Jack Byrne, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, along with Tom Hedderson, MHA for the District of Harbour Main-Whitbourne, today announced that financial support of $100,100 has been awarded to a number of proponents in the District of Harbour Main-Whitbourne which qualified under the provinces $4.25 million Community Enhancement Program. "This program encourages quality work projects which support economic development or benefit community infrastructure," stated Minister Byrne. "Through this investment of community enhancement funding, residents of Harbour Main-Whitbourne will benefit from improvements to community structures and recreational facilities, and valuable opportunity will be provided to individuals requiring employment assistance." Proponents supported include: Minister Hedderson said: "The funding announced is welcome news for residents in my district, in particular for those in need of short term employment assistance. This funding will also allow the various sponsors and organizations to make improvements to their facilities and increase economic development in the district." The $4.25 million Community Enhancement Program is a targeted employment creation program focused on creating short-term employment initiatives for eligible recipients.
