Update on flooding conditions on west coast - 11:15 a.m.

Following is a status report concerning flooding on the west coast of the province as of 11:15 a.m. Thursday, September 29. Further updates will continue throughout the day as information becomes available.

Kippens

  • The Department of Transportation and Works has done temporary repairs to the road which is now open to one lane only. Temporary repairs have been completed to the waterline and the contractor continues to work on the system.

Reidville

  • The road in Reidville was opened at 10:00 p.m. September 28, to foot traffic only. All displaced citizens wanting to go home were able to do so last night. Transportation and Works are in the process of putting culverts in place and completing upgrades to the washout. A boil order remains in effect.

Stephenville

  • Attempts are being made to have the water back on within the town. The hospital does have water. State of Emergency is still in effect and will be until the waterlines are repaired. Schools will remain closed until the State of Emergency has been lifted.

Transportation and Works

  • Pynn's Brook is now open for two-way traffic. Noel's Pond is now open. Other repairs are ongoing at various locations.
