Notice of daylight savings time

Jack Byrne, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, reminds residents of the province today to turn their clocks ahead one hour as of 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, for the change from Newfoundland Standard Time to daylight savings time. This change will remain in effect until Sunday, October 30, 2005.

"This time change is also an excellent reminder for residents to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors," said Minister Byrne. "It is very important to make sure that all detectors are in working order so that if an alarm sounds, everyone can get out of the house. As minister responsible for fire prevention, I encourage all residents to practice fire safety."
