Innovation strategy roundtable sessions begin

Innovation, Trade and Rural Development Minister Kathy Dunderdale announced today that the roundtable discussions to gather input into the development of the provincial innovation strategy will begin February 28 in Port aux Basques.

Over the following two weeks, AMEC Earth and Environmental, the consultant hired to help develop the strategy, will meet with stakeholders in Corner Brook, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador City-Wabush, St. Johns, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, St. Anthony, Bonavista, Clarenville and Marystown. Videoconference sessions will take place with the communities of Rigolet, Port Hope Simpson, Marys Harbour, St. Lewis, Makkovik, Nain and Lanse au Loup.

"The schedule of roundtable discussions will ensure government receives regional representation and allows interest groups around the province to provide input to help shape the strategy," said Minister Dunderdale.

Due to an increase in the number of sessions being held, the pan-provincial session previously planned for March 14 will be postponed.
