Minister announces appointment of interim chair and CEO of NLHC

Joan Burke, Minister of Human Resources and Employment and minister responsible for housing, announced today that Mary Marshall has been appointed interim chair and chief executive officer of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC), effective immediately.

"Ms. Marshall has held a number of senior executive positions with NLHC, and has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication in serving the corporation and its clients," said Minister Burke.

In her most recent position as chief operating officer of NLHC, Ms. Marshall has established a collaborative approach to addressing client needs involving other government departments and agencies, and community representatives. Prior to that she was NLHC vice-president of human resources and information systems.

A graduate of Memorial University, Ms. Marshall has held positions on the Labour Standards Tribunal, the Kirby House Board of Directors, the planning committee for the Public Service Executive Development, and CMHCs national housing awards selection panel. She is chair of the interdepartmental committee on supportive social housing, and participates on the Northeast Avalon Region Steering Committee of the Rural Secretariat, as well as the St. Johns Advisory Committee on Homelessness.

In her new position, she replaces Les Dean who recently retired after a long career with the provincial public service.
