Minister announces appointments to Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Review Division Joan Burke, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, announced today the appointment of Robert Lundrigan as chief review commissioner of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Review Division. Minister Burke is also pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Burridge to the position of review commissioner. The appointments are for a five- and three-year term respectively, effective immediately. "Robert Lundrigan is a dedicated educator who has demonstrated initiative and drive in over 20 years service to the province�s educational system. I am confident he will bring these attributes to the role of chief review commissioner, providing a strong and effective review process for those seeking the services of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Review Division," said Minister Burke. "I am also pleased that the appointment of Ms. Burridge will bring the number of review commissioners to a total of six, ensuring a timely response to cases brought before the division. Ms. Burridge is a distinguished member of the legal community with experience in labour law that will serve as an asset during her tenure as a review commissioner." Mr. Lundrigan replaces Eric Gullage who has served two five-year terms in the position of chief review commissioner. In announcing the appointments, Minister Burke thanked Mr. Gullage for his years of service to the division and to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Mr. Gullage will continue with the review division for a period of 60 days to finalize any outstanding cases. The duties of the chief review commissioner and review commissioners are to review decisions of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission to determine if, in making a decision, the commission acted in accordance with the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act and relevant regulations and policies. Matters of the review division include, but are not limited to, compensation benefits and rehabilitation services and benefits, and employer assessments.
