New board chair for the Centre for
Health Information
Health and Community Services Minister John
Ottenheimer today announced the appointment of William Fanning as the chair of
the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information�s Board of
Management.
�I am pleased to announce the appointment of William Fanning to the Newfoundland
and Labrador Centre for Health Information�s Board of Management,� said Minister
Ottenheimer. �I am confident that his experience as a member of the board of
management for five years, along with his knowledge of health care issues, will
serve the board well.�
Mr. Fanning has been the chief operating officer and general manager of Spectrol
Energy Services Inc., a privately-owned Newfoundland and Labrador company
providing engineering and technical services to the oil and gas industry from
offices in Atlantic Canada, Texas and West Africa. He has extensive project
management, supply chain and commercial/contract management expertise on oil and
gas engineering, procurement and construction projects. In 2004, Mr. Fanning was
a recipient of Atlantic Canada Business Magazine�s Top 50 CEO Award.
Mr. Fanning is also a director of Atlantic XL Inc. and president of Spectrol
Group LLC. He has also been involved with the Newfoundland Oil Industries
Association, the St. John�s Boys and Girls Club, Junior Achievement, and the
Royal St. John�s Regatta.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information was established in
1996 with a mandate to provide information to health professionals, the public,
researchers, and health system decision-makers that is accurate, timely, and
useable. Through its collaboration with the health system, the centre has
fostered expertise in health information systems development and management,
applied health research, data quality and collection, and personal information
privacy and security.
