NOTE TO EDITORS: Pre-budget consultations to resume next week

Members of the media are reminded that pre-budget consultations resume next week in several locations across the province. The schedule, including time and location for the meetings, is listed below.

The Corner Brook pre-budget consultation meeting postponed in November has been re-scheduled for next week, and in addition, a meeting has been added for Stephenville for the same day.

"The postponement of the Corner Brook meeting necessitated changes to the pre-budget consultation schedule, and as such I am able to now hold a meeting in Stephenville," explained Loyola Sullivan, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board. "I look forward to hearing the comments from all participants as we continue with budget planning for the upcoming fiscal year."

Those who would like to participate in a roundtable discussion are requested to register 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting by telephoning (709) 729-2944.

Individuals and groups who would like to provide their comments and ideas, but who are unable to attend a community roundtable discussion, can submit their views in writing to the Minister of Finance, Department of Finance, P.O. Box 8700, St. Johns, NL, A1B 4J6. Comments can also be faxed to (709) 729-2070 or e-mailed to taxpolicy@gov.nl.ca.
