MV Apollo schedule changed for December 22 only

The Department of Transportation and Works is changing the schedule for the MV Apollo for one day only on December 22 to accommodate those passengers who begin their holidays with the closure of schools.

The ferry users committee requested a change to the schedule on behalf of teachers and students. Pushing the regularly-scheduled departure back by several hours allows passengers to depart once the school day ends.

On December 22 only, the 1 p.m. sailing will now depart at 5 p.m., while the 3:30 p.m. sailing will now depart at 6:30 p.m. The revised schedule can be found at //www.gov.nl.ca/FerryServices/schedules/J-apollo.stm

Earlier this week, Transportation and Works Minister Trevor Taylor announced a five-day extension for the MV Apollo ferry service between St. Barbe, on the Northern Peninsula, and Blanc Sablon, Quebec. The seasonal service will now run until Sunday, January 8, 2006 to coincide with the reopening of schools and post-secondary institutions, as well as give residents and businesses more time to coordinate the shipment of any goods and services they may require.
