NOTE TO EDITORS:  Minister to celebrate Women and War event with grade eight students

October is Women�s History Month, 2005 is the Year of the Veteran. The theme for this year�s Women�s History Month is Women and War: Contributions and Consequences.

Joan Burke, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, will be celebrating Women�s History Month with the grade eight students of St. Paul�s Junior High School in St. John�s tomorrow (Friday, October 28). Highlights of the event include a presentation by author Mary Philpott on nurses in World War I, two guest speakers (World War II veteran Margaret Kearney, and Canadian Forces Sgt Miranda Collins) and a performance by the grade seven girls choir. Minister Burke will give opening and closing remarks.
