Premier to attend Council of the Federation meeting

Premier Danny Williams will participate this week in the summer Council of the Federation meeting. This is the annual meeting of premiers and territorial leaders, being held this year in Banff, Alberta from August 10 to 12. Additionally, the provincial and territorial leaders will meet with national Aboriginal leaders on August 9 in Calgary.

Premier Williams said a number of important issues will be on the premiers� agenda in Banff this week.  �We will be discussing issues of importance to all Canadians, including post-secondary education funding, energy issues, health care and infrastructure to name just a few. I look forward to meeting with my colleagues and representing the people of Newfoundland and Labrador at this significant meeting.�

The Council of the Federation was officially formed on December 5, 2003.
