Call for Nominations to Regional Councils of the Rural Secretariat
In each of our
nine regions we need 12-15 people to serve on a Regional
Council. We are inviting you to nominate the people you feel
will best represent your region.
What will the
Councils do?
Each Regional Council will:
-
Identify the
long-term challenges and opportunities facing the region
-
Reach agreement
on regional priorities
-
Develop a shared
vision for the region
-
Stimulate
collaborative and innovative thinking among key stakeholders
-
Identify policies
and programs that hinder or foster regional development
How often
will the Council meet?
Who are we
looking for?
People who:
- Know the economic, social,
environmental or cultural issues in their region
- Can act as champions for regional
growth
- Can consider all parts of their
region
- Have an understanding and acceptance
of a broad range of views and values
- Believe in a positive future for
rural Newfoundland and Labrador
- Are big picture thinkers
- Are prepared to take responsibility
for finding solutions
- Are creative and innovative
Other
considerations in choosing the Councils:

Each Regional Council will be a
cross-section of people balanced by
- Gender
- Age
- Larger and smaller communities
- Business, labour, social, cultural,
environmental
