Minister announces
public draw for cottage lots in Trinity Bay
Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne today announced that a public draw will take place on
Wednesday, September 21 for 19 Crown land lots located at Spread
Eagle, Old Shop, Trinity Bay. The draw will take place at 2:00 p.m.
at the Eastern Regional Lands Office, 5 Mews Place, St. Johns.
Applications must be received at the Government Service Centre, 5
Mews Place, St. John's by 4:15 p.m. Friday, September 16. Envelopes
must be clearly marked: Public Draw, Spread Eagle Cottage Area.
Applications received after the deadline will not be eligible for
the draw.
Minister Osborne said the cottage lots are non-waterfront lots,
ranging in price from $5,800 to $7,500. The minister also noted that
each lot is surveyed and assessed for waste disposal; however, the
applicant is responsible for obtaining an individual waste disposal
design for the lot.
There is a great demand for cottage lots in our beautiful province,
especially in areas like picturesque Trinity Bay, said Minister
Osborne. A public lot draw process allows equal opportunity for all
members of the public who are interested in applying for a cottage
lot.
An application fee of $115 is required with each application
submitted. This fee will be credited towards the cost of processing
the successful applications. This application fee will only be
refunded to applicants unsuccessful in the draw. Applicants may
attend the public draw but attendance is not necessary. Applicants
will be contacted by certified mail with information on the lot
selection meeting and the ranking of the applications in the public
draw.
The minister said the lots will be sold as grants (outright
ownership) with the full price to be paid upon signature of the
grant document. Applicants are advised to inspect lots prior to the
selection meeting. Any lots remaining after the lot selection
meeting will be offered to the public on a first come, first served
basis on the next usual business day, added Minister Osborne.
