Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

 UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Stephenville Sludge Treatment (Abydoz) Wetlands                                            (Reg. 1207)
Proponent: Town of Stephenville

The proponent plans to develop a solids composting facility in the Town of Stephenville, in the industrial zone near the airport. The undertaking will consist of six sludge holding treatment cells and one Kickuth Engineered Wetland Treatment Bed. The facility will primarily be used for the treatment of solids from the new Stephenville wastewater treatment facility. The facility will be operated by ABYDOZ Environmental Ltd. on behalf of the Town of Stephenville. The site will be approximately 400 metres by 50 metres, with a parking and turning area.  The project was registered on July 28, 2005; public comments are due by September 2, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by September 11, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
