Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

(1) Fleur de Lys Seal and Fish Processing Plant                                (Reg. 1202)
Proponent: Sea Water Products Inc.

The proponent plans to build a seal and ground fish processing plant in Fleur de Lys. The proposed undertaking will be designed to process raw seals and fish oils. Plans include construction of a plant building (19 metres by 23 metres), marine oil storage area, parking lot and storage yard. Construction is planned to start upon completion of the environmental assessment review and receiving all approvals. The project was registered on June 30, 2005; public comments are due by August 4, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by August 14, 2005.

(2) Mount Pearl Cleaning Chemical Manufacturing Facility                         (Reg. 1203)
Proponent: BilRoc Industries Limited

The proponent plans to construct a cleaning chemical manufacturing (mixing) facility in Donovan�s Industrial Park, Mount Pearl. The finished chemicals are to be used in food preparation facilities to clean, sanitize and disinfect processing equipment. The proposed two story 10,000 square foot building floor plan will include: an 8,000 square foot manufacturing area for staging and mixing chemical products, drum recycling and warehouse, and, 4,000 square foot office/showroom in the front of the building. Construction is planned for summer/fall of 2005. The project was registered on June 30, 2005; public comments are due by August 4, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by August 14, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

(2) Garnish Pond (Marystown) ATV Trail                                            (Reg. 1192)

(3) Crown District 15 Five-Year Plan Amendment (Kennedy Lake)          (Reg. 1193)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources
