Minister to attend environment ministers meeting in Halifax

Tom Osborne, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will join his counterparts in Halifax on Monday, June 27, for a meeting of the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME).

Minister Osborne said several important environmental issues and initiatives will be discussed at the CCME meeting, including a commitment statement on environmental sustainability, climate change impacts and adaptations, and a proposed Canada-wide standard on mercury emissions reduction from coal-fired electric power generating plants.

"I look forward to engaging in important discussions on environmental issues that impact all provinces and territories, as well as renew our commitment to working together to ensure the protection of our natural environment for generations to come," said Minister Osborne. "I will also use this opportunity to share with my colleagues the actions we have taken in our province that demonstrate our commitment to conserving the environment and creating healthier communities."
