Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Pleasantview Mussel Processing Plant
(Reg. 1200)
Proponent: Norlantic Processors Ltd.
The proponent plans to build a mussel processing facility in
Pleasantview, Notre Dame Bay. The proposed undertaking will include
construction of a 16 metre by 37 metre wood frame building for
processing aquaculture raised mussels for the fresh/live market. The
facility plans to start processing 1,000,000 pounds per year and
increasing to as much as 4,000,000 pounds within three years,
depending on market demands. Construction and equipment installation
will take approximately four months to complete. The project was
registered on June 16, 2005; public comments are due by July 21,
2005; and, the minister's decision is due by July 31, 2005.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
