Becoming An Outdoors Woman Program, June 2426

Tom Osborne, Minister of Environment and Conservation, announced today that his department has scheduled the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program for the east coast of Newfoundland. This outdoor skills training program will be held at Burry Heights, Salmonier Line, June 24-26.

"This program is open to women 18 years of age and older who would like to pursue outdoor activities, but feel they lack the necessary skills or knowledge," said Minister Osborne. "BOW is designed to remove barriers and build strong connections with nature in a relaxed and supportive environment."

During the BOW weekend, participants have an opportunity to learn rifle, shotgun, canoeing, outdoor survival, map and compass, nature connections and fishing skills to name a few. Registration cost is $150.00 for two nights accommodations, seven meals, all instruction and use of demonstration equipment.

Scholarships are available for single moms or students who may require financial assistance.
