Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

District 13 Forest Management Area (West Tulks) (Abitibi) Amendment                       (Reg. 1197)
Proponent: Abitibi-Consolidated Company of Canada

The proponent proposes to harvest 17,100 cubic metres of mature timber, comprising approximately 195 hectares between Lloyds River and Tulks Brook at the southwest end of Red Indian Lake in Forest Management District 13. Approximately 2.8 kilometres of forest access roads are proposed to be constructed. Upon receipt of proper approvals, operations are scheduled to begin during the summer/fall of 2005. The undertaking was registered on May 26, 2005; public comments are due by June 30, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by July 10, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

(1) Holyrood Residential Pilot Sewage Treatment System                             (Reg. 1189)
Proponent: Town of Holyrood

(2) La Scie Sports & Country Club (Golf Course & Ski Trail)                            (Reg. 1174)
Proponent: La Scie Recreation Commission

The minister has released the golf course and cross country ski trail for La Scie from further environmental assessment review subject to the following condition:

  • Preparation and submission of an Environmental Protection Plan, for the construction and operational phases of the undertaking, to be approved by the Minister of Environment and Conservation prior to the onset of construction.
