Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Deer Harbour (Hodges Cove) ATV Trail
(Reg. 1191)
Proponent: Deer Harbour Trails Association Inc.
The proponent intends to build nine kilometres of three-metre wide
All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) trail to facilitate year round access to
approximately 50 remote cabins in St. Jones Harbour, Northeast Arm,
and Deer Harbour, Trinity Bay. Commencing seven kilometres south of
Hodges Cove and 14 kilometres east of Goobies, the trail will extend
south from the Norris Pond - Back Pond ATV trail that starts from
the Hodges Cove area. Construction by members of Deer Harbour Trails
Association Inc. is planned to start as soon as possible using ATVs,
chain saws, and other hand tools, and will extend over six months.
The undertaking was registered on April 14, 2005; public comments
are due by May 19, 2005; and, the minister's decision is due by May
29, 2005.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
