Assessment Bulletin
Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Holyrood Residential Pilot Sewage Treatment System
(Reg. 1189)
Proponent: Town of Holyrood
The proponent plans to construct a pilot residential sewage
treatment system on Country Path Road in Holyrood. The system
consists of three pilot scale Kickuth bioreactors. The Kickuth
bioreactor is a natural treatment process which consists of a
subsurface flow wetland engineered to treat wastewater from a
variety of sources. The wastewater would be collected from the
residences and delivered to the plant using a conventional gravity
collection system with receiving water outflow to North Arm River.
Construction of the sewage treatment system is tentatively scheduled
to begin in the spring of 2005. The project was registered on April
8; public comments are due by May 16; and the minister's decision is
due by May 23.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
