Assessment Bulletin
Environment and Conservation Minister
Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
South Brook (Pasadena) Watercourse Channel Relocation
(Reg. 1187)
Proponent: Town of Pasadena
The proponent proposes to relocate a section of South Brook, in the
Town of Pasadena between Church Street and the Trans Canada Highway,
to prevent further erosion from undermining the gabion wall
protecting the sewage treatment lagoon. The South Brook flood plain
in the area would be excavated to create a new brook channel
approximately 125 metres long which would replace the existing 375
metre serpentine channel. Work is expected to take place over two
weeks during summer 2005 and will be scheduled to occur after fish
spawning activity and coincide with low water levels. The project
was registered on March 29, 2005; public comments are due by May 4,
2005; and, the minister's decision is due by May 13, 2005.
The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved
and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are
invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and
are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
