Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN (EPP) RECEIVED:

Voisey�s Bay Mine/Mill Project
Proponent: Voisey's Bay Nickel Co. Ltd.

The minister received on January 14, 2005 the EPP for the operations phase of the Voisey�s Bay Mine/Mill project in Voisey �s Bay Labrador.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

St. John's (Goulds) Wind Farm                                              (Reg. 1165)
Proponent: Anemos Energy Corporation

The above undertaking is released from further environmental assessment subject to the following:

  • preparation of a bird monitoring program, in consultation with the Inland Fish and Wildlife Division and the Canadian Wildlife Service, which is required to be submitted to the Minister of Environment and Conservation for approval, and

  • areas outside the safety zone of the turbine structures are to be available for public use.
