NOTE TO EDITORS: New policies to be revealed for public post-secondary education

A technical briefing and news conference regarding the release of the White Paper on Public Post-Secondary Education have been scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, July 7).

Staff of the Department of Education will provide the technical briefing to journalists at 10:00 a.m. in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building. A news conference with Tom Hedderson, Minister of Education, will follow at 11:00 a m.

Minister Hedderson will also be available to speak with representatives of news organizations based outside of the St. John's area. Interested journalists are invited to contact the department to make appropriate arrangements.

A white paper is an official document that presents government policies, sometimes in a technical manner. An examination of the publicly-funded element of the province's post-secondary education was announced in the 2004 Speech from the Throne.
