Conception Bay South to benefit from provincial roads program

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, and Terry French, MHA for the District of Conception Bay South today announced roads projects for the district under the provincial roads program.

"A priority of this government is to ensure that road users in the province have a safe and reliable transportation infrastructure," said Minster Rideout. "As part of our commitment to a sound provincial road network, road improvements will be carried out in the district of Conception Bay South valued at $650,000."

Projects planned for the district include:

  • replacement of expansion joints on the Foxtrap Road Overpass on the Trans Canada Highway;
  • resurfacing a section of Route 60 in Holyrood;
  • resurfacing a section of Route 60 in Upper Gullies, Kelligrews, Foxtrap Access Road to bridge in Kelligrews.

MHA Terry French said: "These projects will benefit road users in my district, as well as ensuring their safety as they commute along these roads. I certainly welcome these planned initiatives. It has been a long time since work has been done on Route 60 in Conception Bay South and Holyrood. There is still much to be done, but these upgrades will repair some of the worst sections of the district."

Funding for these projects is part of the $30 million Provincial Roads Improvement Program for 2004 announced in this years budget.
