Road work announced for Trinity North

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, and Ross Wiseman, MHA for the District of Trinity North, today announced road work for the district valued at $700,000, under the Provincial Roads Program for 2004.

"This years program provides funding for upgrading and improving the provincial highway network, including major trunk roads, community access roads and local roads, as well as routine maintenance on the Trans Canada Highway. It provides funding for rehabilitation and replacement of bridges and culverts. Culvert replacement is important in the prevention of washouts and flooding," said Minister Rideout. "Accordingly, work will be carried out in the District of Trinity North."

Planned projects for the district include:

  • repairing frost bumps on the Trans Canada Highway, east of Clarenville;
  • road work at Little Hearts Ease, Hickmans Harbour and Hodges Cove;
  • replacement of a culvert on Route 230 near Champneys;
  • a stretch of road at Hodges Cove;
  • a stretch of road at Hickmans Harbour;

"This work will certainly improve the infrastructure in the area and go along way in ensuring public safety," said MHA Wiseman.
