Road work announced for Lewisporte District

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, and MHA for Lewisporte District, today announced roads projects for the Lewisporte District valued at $1.2 million, under the Provincial Roads Program.

"A priority of this government is to ensure that road users in the province have access to a safe and reliable transportation infrastructure," said Minster Rideout. "This years program provides funding for upgrades and improvements to the provincial highway network, including the resurfacing of major trunk roads. To that end, we plan to upgrade and pave a section of Route 340 as well as sections of the main road through the Towns of Embree and Little Burnt Bay this year, with tenders to be called shortly.

"This project will benefit all the residents of Lewisporte District and is in keeping with one of the main goals of the provincial roads program, the maintenance and upgrading of highways and secondary roads throughout the province."
