Road work announced for Twillingate-Fogo

Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced road work to be carried out in the District of Twillingate -Fogo under the 2004 Provincial Roads Improvement Program.

"Government allocated $30 million for improvement and construction of provincial roads in Budget 2004 - a $7 million increase over the previous year. This roads program is our first concrete step in ensuring a strategically-planned, reliable and, above all, safe transportation network for the province," said Minister Rideout.

"This year, government plans to complete rehabilitation of the Shoal Tickle Bridge, as well as upgrade and pave a section of Route 340 between the Walter B. Elliot Causeway and the Town of Twillingate, including replacement of the guide rail on the Walter B. Elliot Causeway. This work is valued at $825,000, and government expects tenders to be called shortly."
