The following is being distributed at the request of School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador: 

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador girls soccer and boys slo pitch this weekend 

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador continues its fall schedule this weekend as four new provincial high school champions will be crowned. 

Stephenville High will once again host a provincial tournament this coming weekend as they host the Boys 4A Provincial Slo Pitch tournament. Eight teams will compete for the championship banner in this event. Division 1 will see action from Queen Elizabeth High (Foxtrap), Botwood Collegiate, Stephenville High, and Regina High (Corner Brook). Competing in Division 2 will be Holy Heart of Mary High (St. John�s), Piccadilly High, Marystown Central High and Pasadena Academy. Games will play simultaneously on two diamonds at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The top two teams from each division will advance to the crossover games at 12 noon. The winners of these games play at 1:30 p.m. in the championship game. 

Belanger Memorial in Doyles will host the eight teams in the Boys 3A Slo Pitch tournament. Division A will consist of Harriot Curtis Collegiate (St. Anthony), Stella Maris High (Trepassey), Christ the King Academy (Rushoon) and Cape John Collegiate (LaScie). Facing off in Division B will be Cow Head School Complex, J. M. Olds Collegiate (Twillingate), Tricentia Academy (Arnolds Cove) and the host school Belanger. Round robin games will be played Friday and Saturday starting at 8 a.m. on both days. The crossovers will be played Saturday afternoon followed by the championship game. 

High school girls are involved in Provincial Soccer Championships this coming weekend. O�Donel High in Mount Pearl is the host for the 4A tournament which will see six teams vying for the provincial title. In Division A, Gonzaga High (St. John�s), Booth Memorial (St. John�s) and host - O� Donel High. In Division B, Mount Pearl Senior High, Holy Spirit High (Manuels) and Marystown Central High will face off. Games will be played at both Smallwood and the Central fields. Games are scheduled at both venues for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The crossover games will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by a consolation games and a 2 p.m. championship game. 

Six teams will travel to Carbonear for the 3A Girls Soccer Championships hosted by Carbonear Collegiate. Playing in the division with the host at Carbonear Collegiate will be Indian River High (Springdale) and Holy Name of Mary (Lawn). The other division will see action from Mobile High School, Mealy Mountain Collegiate (Happy Valley-Goose Bay) and Stephenville High. Round robin games will be played all day Friday with the top two teams from each division advancing to Saturday�s semi-finals and championship games. 

In its continuing effort to emphasize sportsmanship, School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador, in conjunction with Crime Stoppers Newfoundland and Labrador are again sponsoring the Sportsmanship First Program. In addition to the Team Sportsmanship Award, each team will nominate an individual player to receive an individual sportsmanship award medal. 

The top teams will be rewarded with gold and silver medals, while the winner of the championship game will also receive the coveted championship banner. 

All the School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador tournaments are sponsored by School Milk Foundation/Dairy Farmers of Newfoundland and Crime Stoppers Newfoundland and Labrador.
