Hoopsters off to CP-Atlantic Camp

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will send eight females to this weekend’s Centre for Performance-Atlantic Basketball Camp in Nova Scotia. The camp will run from October 8-11 and will be held at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

The eight athletes were selected at an open camp in early September and will attend three four-day camps between now and March. The head coach of the program for Atlantic Canada is Acadia’s women’s coach Angie McLeod. Coaches attending the session from Newfoundland and Labrador include Memorial’s women’s coach Doug Partridge, along with Mr. Frank Foo of Corner Brook. Athletes selected to attend the camp include: Robyn Kenny of Corner Brook; Brittany Dalton from Harbour Main; Ally Forsey, Emma Bishop, Anna Snow and Lauren Hawkins of St. John’s; along with Megan Stanley and Sarah Sturge of Mount Pearl.

The CP-Atlantic is a Canadian basketball program aimed at developing potential athletes for future national team programs. The camp will involve the top 30 athletes in Atlantic Canada between the ages of 12-17. This CP-Atlantic is one of five centres operating across the country.
