Midget girls hoop win

Robyn Kenny of Corner Brook sank three free throws in the final 16 seconds to help Newfoundland Midget (U15)Girls team to a 75-72 victory over New Brunswick this morning at the national championships in Nova Scotia. The win was the first victory for the team which placed them in 7th place in the country. Kenny also had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 steals. Sarah Sturge of Mount Pearl had 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Dallas Costello of Avondale chipped in with12 points. Ontario will face Alberta, while Saskatchewan will face off against British Columbia in today's semi-final contests.

The boy�s team lost a close one to New Brunswick 76-72 and settled for 8th place at the tournament. Mark Noseworthy of Mount Pearl led the team with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Allan Cake of Mount Pearl contributed 15 points and 3 steals, while Andrew Daley of St. Mary's Bay had 14 points and 5 assists. Ontario will face Nova Scotia, while British Columbia plays Manitoba in the semi-final contests later today.
