Nike All Canada Hoop Camp

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will have three female athletes attend the Nike All Canada Camp in Ontario this weekend. Forty-eight of Canada's elite women's basketball athletes will gather at Humber College in Toronto for four days. Representing this province are Brittany Dalton of Avondale, Stephanie Foo of Corner Brook and Sara Sturge of Mount Pearl. Doug Partridge will also be attending the camp as an assistant instructor.

The Nike All-Canada Camp is an invite-only opportunity for Canada's basketball future to learn advanced training techniques, sharpen their playing skills and be taught a series of valuable life lessons that will help enable them to prepare for the challenges of life as a student-athlete.

In addition to the on-court skills development sessions, inter-squad scrimmages will give attendees an opportunity to showcase their skills for a host of CIS and NCAA scouts and recruiters.

On Sunday, July 11, the camp will conclude with the Nike All-Canada Camp Finals, including a three-point shootout and an all-star game. After the first few days of workouts and scrimmages, coaches will select the top 20 players to participate in the all-star game, which is open to accredited media.

Kevin Carr, who currently serves as director of player programs for the NBA, will be on hand to serve as a consultant for the Life Skills segment of the camp. Mr. Carr, who has an abundance of experience teaching Life Skills to student-athletes, has been responsible for providing similar sessions to NBA players.

Athlete selection to the Women's Nike All-Canada Camp is determined by the provincial basketball associations and Canada Basketball based on agreed criteria.
