Rabies surveillance program ends

The Inland Fish and Wildlife Division of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation wishes to remind trappers that the trapping season for fox, coyote and lynx officially closed on February 1, 2004. Trappers located west of the Bay d�Espoir Highway are advised that the $25 fee paid to trappers who submit the carcasses of these animals for rabies surveillance will end on the close of business hours on Friday, February 13, 2004. Any trapper located in this area who wishes to be eligible for the $25 reward for carcass submissions should do so at the nearest forestry/wildlife office before the February 13, 2004 deadline.

The Inland Fish and Wildlife Division wishes to thank trappers for their assistance with the Rabies Eradication Program and advises all trappers to take the necessary precautions when handling these animals.
