The following is being distributed at the request of the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board:

Board now investigating additional spill at Henry Goodrich

The C-NOPB has received a report of a spill at 7:00 this morning from the semi-submersible Henry Goodrich, drilling for Petro-Canda on the Terra Nova site. The immediate estimate is less than one cubic metre of oil has been released into the ocean.

The Henry Goodrich was not under the suspension order and there were no operational reasons to prevent them from continuing operations. Information immediately available indicates that the spill occurred during flaring.

The board has now ordered the immediate suspension of all activities at the Henry Goodrich. This spill will now be included as part of the current investigation which now broadens in scope to include activities on the Henry Goodrich.
