Capital works improvements for the District of Bonavista North

Jack Byrne, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, and Harry Harding, MHA for the District of Bonavista North, announced today projects approved under the Municipal Capital Works Program totaling $350,000.

"We have approved funding for repairs to the outdoor rink in Musgrave Harbour as well as water improvements for New Wes Valley," said Minister Byrne.

The second prong of the two pronged approach refers to governments commitment to economic development. This agenda for economic growth includes making strategic investments for the benefit of the economy. Government recognizes that solid infrastructure in rural Newfoundland and Labrador is an important part of economic development. Through these projects, government is re-affirming its commitment to community infrastructure.

"I am very pleased that residents in Bonavista North have received funding for these projects," said MHA Harry Harding. "It is important for our residents to have clean drinking water and to maintain recreational facilities in rural Newfoundland and Labrador. The funding for New Wes Valley will be done on a project/management basis. It will extend the work season of the employees and help stimulate the local economy."
