District of Lake Melville benefits from Multi-Year Capital Works Program

Jack Byrne, Municipal and Provincial Affairs Minister, and John Hickey, MHA for the District of Lake Melville announced today that the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay will receive $5.5 million cost-shared under the Multi-Year Capital Works Program which is in its third and final year.

"This funding will go towards mostly road work and some water upgrades," said Minister Byrne. "With this work, the residents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay will see improvements to their municipal infrastructure."

Government is committed to economic development which includes making strategic investments for the benefit of the economy. Providing solid infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador�s municipalities is a necessary part of economic development. These projects re-affirm government�s commitment to community infrastructure.

"The roads in Happy Valley-Goose Bay will greatly benefit from this much-needed funding and I am pleased that government is able to announce it at this time," said MHA John Hickey. "Along with the road improvements, $1.3 million has been earmarked for the construction of water supply lines to municipal reservoirs. Residents should see significant improvements to their municipal services as a result of these projects. "
