NLIS 4 July 5, 2004 (Municipal and Provincial Affairs) Capital works announced for District of Lewisporte Jack Byrne, Municipal and Provincial Affairs Minister, and Tom Rideout, MHA for the District of Lewisporte, today announced $1,230,000 in funding for a number of capital works projects. "I am very pleased that the District of Lewisporte will receive funding for a number of projects including road paving, water and sewer maintenance and the construction of a new fire hall/community centre," said Minister Byrne. "The funding for these projects is provided under the Municipal Capital Works Program." These projects are:
The second prong of the two-pronged approach refers to government�s commitment to economic development. This agenda for economic growth includes making strategic investments for the benefit of the economy. Government recognizes that solid infrastructure in rural Newfoundland and Labrador is an important part of economic development. Through these projects, government is re-affirming its commitment to community infrastructure. "These projects will benefit all the residents in the District of Lewisporte, and I am very pleased to be able to announce these projects for my constituents," said MHA Tom Rideout.
