Minister comments on new collective agreement

Labour Minister Tom Osborne today said he is pleased that a collective agreement has been reached between CAW-Canada, Local 597 and the Holiday Inn, St. John�s, ending a two-day strike.

The three-year agreement was reached yesterday (February 5) with the assistance of Yvonne Scott, a senior mediator with the Department of Labour.

"I want to take this opportunity to congratulate both parties on reaching a new agreement which will
help to ensure labour stability in this workplace for the next three years," said Minister Osborne.

The minister added that the Department of Labour is dedicated to fostering a positive labour- management climate in the province through such assistance as facilitation and mediation services.
