Minister to attend annual labour ministers� meeting in Alberta

Labour Minister Tom Osborne will be attending the annual Federal-Provincial-Territorial Labour Ministers� meeting in Banff, Alberta on January 22-23.

"This will be my first opportunity to meet with all ministers responsible for labour in Canada since becoming Labour Minister," said Minister Osborne. "I look forward to using this opportunity to highlight our department�s commitment to fostering positive labour relations and enhancing our province�s workplace health and safety initiatives."

The minister added that discussions will include such issues as international labour cooperation agreements and improving health and safety standards in the workplace.

"I look forward to productive and informative meetings with my counterparts," said Minister Osborne. " I will also send the message that Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to continued cooperation with all labour jurisdictions across the country."
